Photo by Marie Benner-Rhoades.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All was quite tranquil at the Brethren offices in Elgin<br \/>\nuntil early that first of June<br \/>\nwhen arrived a white van filled with Mss\u2019ers from afar<br \/>\nwho\u2019d come to town the previous afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Lectio Divina &#8211; a divine reading &#8211;<br \/>\nnot the fictional incantation you might think<br \/>\nprepared our minds and hearts each day<br \/>\nfor thought, reflection, and key theological links.<\/p>\n<p>Then, around a big table we would attend<br \/>\nsessions packed to the gills<br \/>\nwith hermeneutical triangles, 16 pf\u2019s,<br \/>\nBrethren living peacefully, together, without frills,<br \/>\nethics, logistics, tradition, vocation,<br \/>\nliturgy, worship, and praise,<br \/>\nteaching, leading, and jamming to some scripture<br \/>\npreparing us to go on our ways.<\/p>\n<p>After long days, the food would taste great<br \/>\nat the homes of our gracious hosts.<br \/>\nWe\u2019d fellowship cheerily before our daily examen<br \/>\nto discover where God has touched us the most.<\/p>\n<p>From swimming in the hotel pool and playing contact<br \/>\nto singing about rain on a TARDIS,<br \/>\nof all the things we did in just a few days,<br \/>\nsaying \u2018good-bye\u2019 was the hardest.<\/p>\n<p>This thought inspires hope as we spread across the country<br \/>\nto do the Lord\u2019s will as we may<br \/>\nbecause it shows the great love in our hearts<br \/>\nthat we will share with all we meet<br \/>\nthrough peace, joy, and grace.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All was quite tranquil at the Brethren offices in Elgin until early that first of June when arrived a white van filled with Mss\u2019ers from afar who\u2019d come to town the previous afternoon.
