YCLTRG was born out of the community\u2019s response to Hurricane Helene and is already serving survivors. Explore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/bdm\/rebuild\/yancey-co\/\"><strong>Yancey County NC project details<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Buncombe County, NC \u2014 September 2024 Hurricane Helene Recovery<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A BDM rebuilding site is scheduled to be open from <strong>August 30, 2026, through May 15, 2027<\/strong>, to work with Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders (FCDR) who have been on the ground since right after the storm. Explore <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/bdm\/buncombe\/\">Buncombe County NC project details<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Local Response and Short-term Response<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ashe County, NC \u2014 September 2024 Hurricane Helene Recovery <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A BDM rebuilding site is scheduled to be open from September 6, 2026, through October 31, 2026, to work with Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church (WNCCUMC). BDM will serve qualified families identified by WNCCUMC to make repairs and build new homes. For a full list of past BDM sites, visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/bdm\/rebuild\/past-projects\/\">Past Projects page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Western, NC \u2014 September 2024 Hurricane Helene Recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A BDM rebuilding site was open for the weeks of&nbsp;<strong>April 12, 2026, through June 6, 2026<\/strong>, to work with two local Habitat for Humanity affiliates: Henderson County &amp; Thermal Belt Habitat and Transylvania Habitat. BDM served qualified families identified by these Habitat affiliates to build new homes and make repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Western, NC &amp; Western MD Short-term Response<strong> <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BDM hosted a two-week short-term response in&nbsp;Western North Carolina&nbsp;the weeks of&nbsp;April 12-18, 2026&nbsp;and&nbsp;April 19-25, 2026 in response to Hurricane Helene which devastated this part of North Carolina in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BDM also hosted a response in&nbsp;Allegany County, Western Maryland the week of April 26-May 2, 2026.&nbsp;This was in response to a flash flooding event that occurred in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and resulted in extensive damage throughout the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Letcher County, Kentucky, July 2022 Flooding Recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A BDM rebuilding site was open from September 8, 2024 to March 28, 2026, to work with a local affordable housing non-profit in southeastern Kentucky. HOMES, Inc\u2019s mission is to provide affordable housing for low to moderate income families in Letcher County and surrounding counties. These affordable housing solutions include energy efficient homebuyer opportunities, quality home repairs and rental opportunities. They have been providing these services to the community since 1984, but their work and the need had been compounded by the 2022 flooding that swept the area<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Johnson County, Tennessee, September 2024 Hurricane Helene Recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A BDM Rebuilding Hurricane Helene response was open in Johnson County, TN from September 21 through November 15, 2025 to work with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and Johnson County Long Term Recovery Group (JCLTRG).
