Join Will Miller, Assistant Professor of Biology at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a member of the Brethren Creation Care Network, for an educational walking tour. Explore the local Ken-O-Sha watershed, also known as Plaster Creek, in Grand Rapids from its headwaters to its confluence with the main river, while gaining insight into impairments, environmental justice issues, and watershed restoration practices, including those related to the Doctrine of Discovery and ancestral lands.

The tour will be on Saturday, July 6th from 2- 4PM.

We’ll be gathering on Lyon Street SW Entrance (next to the Civic Center Auditorium) at 1:50 PM to get on a van and visit several areas of the creek in the Grand Rapids area.

Info: Most stops only require short walks – you will usually be in viewing range of the parking lot <500 ft. Most stops are just pull in, jump out of the vans to view an area, and jump back in van.

For additional context and input, we also invite you to join the issue-related Equipping Session “Connecting Local Action to Global Advocacy: Practicing Embodied Faith to Restore Creation” from 12:30 – 1:30 PM on the same day.

These events are sponsored by the Brethren Creation Care Network and Office of Peacemaking and Policy.
