Planned Giving resources

Many people include the Church of the Brethren in their estate plan as a way to express their gratitude to God.

An up-to-date will ensures that possessions go to the persons or causes according to your wishes, rather than the state’s. While an attorney is required to draft a will, our staff can help prepare you for a visit with your attorney.

Have you already named the Church of the Brethren in your will?
Please notify Mission Advancement by filling out and submitting this form via mail (1451 Dundee Ave., Elgin, IL 60120) or email. We would like to say thank you!

The most common way to make a planned gift is through a bequest in your will. If you feel led to do so, the proper wording for including the Church of the Brethren is:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the Church of the Brethren, Inc., its successors or assigns, a corporation of the State of Illinois, with its principle office in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, _______% of my estate (or residue, or a particular property) for its general purposes."

You may also name one or all six Church of the Brethren endowments. These funds are invested and the interest income is used to continually support the Church of the Brethren.

Lifetime Income

A variety of charitable agreements are available to provide income to you or a loved one for a lifetime, and eventually to the church. Call us to find out how.

Tax Benefits

Charitable gifts may result in sizeable income tax savings. These benefits will be considered and reported in our planning and implementation processes.

Creative and Exciting

You may be surprised by how much good you can accomplish through your blessing. The gift of land, stocks, and life insurance policy can multiply extensively. If you have a unique idea for a gift, please call our office today.

Socially Responsible Investing

The investment policies of the Church of the Brethren, Inc., are in accord with biblical principles and the decisions of Annual Conference. Direction is given to our investment managers to invest in companies that benefit society and avoid those that receive major revenues from tobacco, liquor, gambling, or military contracts.
