Activities

There is always something to do at NYC! We hope there is a little something for everyone to enjoy. The schedule during the week is quite full, and we hope you get to experience as much of it as possible! It is our goal to provide meaning for you in a variety of different ways during NYC, so here are some of the opportunities we have planned so far.

Worship

At NYC there will be two worships a day that will be filled with excitement and praise.

Service Projects

There will be a variety of service projects available for youth who are interested. We will be working with different non-profit agencies in and around the Fort Collins area. Service Project participants will be assigned a day and a shift once they arrive at CSU. You will pick your project when you come for your shift.

Late Evening Activities

For all of you that like to stay up late, there will be plenty of activities to fill the evening hours! Reilly Band will provide late evening entertainment on Tuesday Night at NYC.

Workshops
Each afternoon, NYC participants will have the opportunity to attend a workshop of your choice. Workshop topics will cover a wide variety of subjects, including vocation, justice and peace issues, dating, spirituality, conflict resolution, simple living, and more.

Small Groups
Every morning, after the morning Worship Celebration, participants will have a small group with which to process, learn and grow during the week. The groups are about 12-15 people in size. We make a large effort to divide the youth up so that they have the opportunity to meet different individuals from all over the country. There will be different activities and topics for each of the small group times. Small groups are a place to discuss worship, workshops and matters of faith with peers. If you are an advisor or adult who will be attending NYC and are interested in leading a small group, please contact the NYC office.

Recreation
There is a recreation time every day at NYC and this is your time to get involved in many different things:

Hop into an Ultimate Frisbee game or tournament
Start a basketball, soccer, or volleyball game
Check out the game room
Relax in the sun
AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!!!

Hiking

How could 4,000 people spend a week in Fort Collins, Colorado and not take advantage of the beautiful surroundings? CSU is located less than an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park - 416 square miles of rock-ribbed wildness graced with delicate alpine flowers, clear lakes, rushing mountain waters, and impressive forests. At least 60 mountains exceed 12,000 feet, and an array of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, coyote, and elk, adds life to the stunning landscape.

On several afternoons, buses will roll out of CSU parking lots and shuttle youth and advisors to the park for an afternoon of hiking. Every NYC participant will have the opportunity to sign up for hiking during the registration process. The trails vary widely in level of difficulty, so be sure to choose the level most appropriate for your fitness level when you sign up. People will be grouped according to district and levels of difficulty.

If you feel close to God when you spend time immersed in the beauty of creation, then don’t forget to sign up for hiking!
