Older Adult Ministries
National Older Adult Conference (NOAC)
September 7 - 11, 2009 Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina
“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age who are doomed to perish. But we speak God’s wisdom, secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.” I Corinthians 2: 6-7
What are the legacies of our Church of the Brethren heritage that we yearn to pass on to future generations?
What wisdom, values, and faith can we weave together in a tapestry of blessing?
How do we reclaim the treasures of the past while creating new possibilities of hope for our families, our church, and our world?
Over 900 people gathered for the 2009 National Older Adult Conference (NOAC) to celebrate this festival of legacies.
We shared the stories of our identity and faith, discerned God’s wisdom for our lives, explored the call to witness to future generations, and were inspired to create new legacies.
The NOAC video collage, featuring Jonathan Shively’s original song, “Legacies of Wisdom,” is on YouTube. Dowload a copy of the lyrics.
CDs and DVDs of NOAC presentations are available for purchase. Download the order form here.
Rachael Freed, founder of Life-Legacies and keynote presenter at the 2009 NOAC, writes about her experience at NOAC in the October 2009 edition of “Legacy Tips & Tools.” Click here to read her comments about legacy and a new vision of aging.
