Where we work

In Nigeria, Haiti, and many other places, we "go into all the world" to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and serve brothers and sisters in need.

Brazil

Igreja da Irmandade-Brasil, the Church of the Brethren in Brazil, is relatively young and emerging in character. It seeks to live out a holistic gospel that reflects the full teachings of Jesus with emphasis on love of God and neighbor. As a result, the congregations usually engage in some type of service to their community. This message is countercultural in Brazil and sets the church apart from many other denominations. Dominican Republic

Iglesia de los Hermanos, meaning "Church of the Brethren" in Spanish, was planted through mission work that began in the Dominican Republic following Hurricane David in 1979. Active evangelism and church planting continue with energy and vitality--most churches have at least one daughter church or preaching point. A four-year Theological Program helps fill the leadership needs of a growing church. Today, there are 1,650 members in 22 churches in the Dominican Republic. Read more.

Haiti

A Church of the Brethren mission in Haiti has grown to five churches and seven preaching points. In addition to assisting with leadership development, the Church of the Brethren is responding energetically to the devastation caused last fall when hurricanes Gustav, Hanna, and Ike caused major devastation in an already impoverished country. India

Brethren involvement in India stretches back to 1895, when Brethren missionaries began working there. Today the Church of the Brethren is in relationship with two groups in India. One is the Church of North India, a 1970 union of several denominations including the Church of the Brethren. The other is a group of Brethren who over those decades had resisted being part of CNI. Nigeria

Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria (EYN), Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, is the largest national body of Church of the Brethren in the world, with over 180,000 members. The energy and vitality of the membership has resulted in active evangelism and church-planting efforts within Nigeria and recently to other neighboring countries. Read more. Nigeria workcamp

Sudan

Building on longstanding partnerships in Sudan, the Church of the Brethren is embarking on new mission efforts in the southern part of the country. This still fledgling work is aimed at building up the church presence there, responding to human need, and working for peace and reconciliation.  The newest relationship is in Yei, responding to an invitation with Reconcile International.  Read more.
