Global Food Crisis Fund

Working from the grassroots up

The Global Food Crisis Fund (GFCF) is the primary way the Church of the Brethren assists hungry people in developing food security. For over 25 years GFCF has provided grants upwards of $400,000 annually for seeds, livestock, tools, and training directed to helping the poor develop sustainable agriculture. GFCF invests in small-scale economic development, joins efforts to improve diet and health practices, champions soil conservation, and promotes awareness-raising and advocacy on hunger issues. Its grants serve community development programs in 32 countries.

Whether your gift is an individual contribution, an ongoing 2¢-a-meal collection at the family table, the offering of a congregation or camp, or a one-time donation or memorial in honor of a loved one, your support of the Global Food Crisis Fund upholds the biblical command to lift the burden of the oppressed. Moreover it honors God, for as stated in Proverbs 14:31, “Kindness shown to the poor is an act of worship.”

You are invited to join the Global Food Crisis Fund in living out the call to do justice, to help one’s neighbor in need, and to “draw out your soul to the hungry,” as Isaiah 58:10 puts it. Your gift will affirm and transform life from the grassroots up.
