Mission Alive recounts church mission history, addresses challenges
The Mission Alive 2008 conference, held April 4-6 at the Bridgewater (Va.) Church of the Brethren, celebrated past and present mission work in the Church of the Brethren. It also served as a gathering place to begin evaluation of denominational mission programs and discussion about future endeavors. A mix of thought-provoking presentations and relevant workshops were held together by times of worship. More than 125 persons attended the conference, which was sponsored by the Church of the Brethren General Board with support from Brethren Revival Fellowship and Brethren World Missions. A highlight of the weekend was a multimedia presentation; videographer David Sollenberger recapped 300 years of mission history in dialogue with Alexander Mack, played by Larry Glick. --by Janis Pyle (all photos by Janis Pyle unless otherwise indicated) |
