Germantown Church of the Brethren was the site of the opening event of the Church of the Brethren’s celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Brethren movement, on Sept. 15-16, 2007. The Brethren movement began in Aug. 1708, when eight Brethren believers under the leadership of Alexander Mack Sr. were baptized in the Eder River in Schwarzenau, Germany.
