Sunday’s gathering began with a Blessing of the Seed service, which included prayers for a bountiful harvest, and focused on the theme of growing a crop, as well as awareness of hunger issues in the world. This was followed by a strawberry social, and a hayride tour of the farm, where individual donors had the opportunity to “meet their acre”. Each donor was assigned to a specific acre of cropland, and was able to view their acre while on the tour.

The Growing Project will conclude at the end of the season with a Harvest Festival in celebration of the crop. Until then, the three churches will be educating their members about the country of Kenya and the specific needs there. In 2007 there will be an opportunity for several members of these churches to travel to Kenya to see the program first-hand.
