South Sudan
The Church of the Brethren continues mission efforts in South Sudan. This work is aimed at building up the church presence there, responding to human need, and working for peace and reconciliation.

- New Brethren staff are placed in South Sudan
(December 14, 2011) Athanasus Ungang and Jillian Foerster have begun work in South Sudan on behalf of the Church of the Brethren. Both have been placed with ecumenical partners, with sponsorship from the denomination’s Global Mission and Service program.

One of the projects listed there was RECONCILE, an organization that works to rebuild war-torn communities in South Sudan. RECONCILE’s emphasis on civic education and social transformation seemed to make it a perfect match.... So after completing her BVS orientation, Jillian Foerster packed her bags for a two-year term with RECONCILE.
