Living Peace Church Ideas

In 2003, On Earth Peace and the General Board brought “A Call for a Living Peace Church” resolution to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference and was passed by the delegate body.  Here is a copy of that resolution as well as some practical ideas for congregations and individuals.

International Day of Prayer for Peace

Each year, as part of the International Day of Prayer for Peace, more individuals, groups, churches and communities throughout the world are recognizing the significance of committing to One Day of Peace through prayer, meditation and other forms of spiritual observance. Churches worldwide are once more invited to pray for peace - possibly using the same prayers - on September 21, 2007, or the closest Sunday.

Prophetic Preaching

Preachers of the word to modern minds, must feel that they are like the stones set crosswise the stream, disturbing the deep lucidity. . . by rippling the flow, turning dark water into light and sound. It takes a stone, set the wrong way, to bring out the whiteness and music in the stream.
