In the period since September 11, some Brethren congregations are experiencing conflict related to issues of patriotism, citizenship, faith, discipleship.  In many of our congregations, Brethren veterans and non-veterans worship alongside each other every Sunday.

The Church of the Brethren Ministry of Reconciliation offers the following mediators and consultants for assistance if your congregation is experiencing these kinds of conflict.  Call or write to set up appointments for phone consultation or possible local visit.

As we talk to members of the Church of the Brethren across the country, we hear that tensions surrounding the flag are surfacing in some congregations.  In many places, this is leading to prayer and dialogue.  In some cases, it is also leading to separation and difficulty.

On Earth Peace offers these resource sheets as one way to work at such conflicts by "reframing" them. We hope that these handouts might be helpful in your particular congregational situation. For further assistance or counsel, contact one of the Ministry of Reconciliation responders identified here, or Matt Guynn. (Resources are offered with permission of Mennonite Conciliation Service.)
