Special Programs

  • International Day of Prayer for Peace - Each year, as part of the International Day of Prayer for Peace, more individuals, groups, churches, and communities throughout the world are recognizing the significance of committing to One Day of Peace through prayer, meditation and other forms of spiritual observance. Churches worldwide are once more invited to pray for peace - possibly using the same prayers - on September 21, 2007, or the closest Sunday.
  • Welcome Home Project – Congregations around the country are experiencing the return of soldiers who have been in active military conflict. While some return with physical injuries, there are others who are affected emotionally or spiritually. Many individuals and congregations desire to address with wisdom and compassion the needs of returning military personnel and the communities to which they return.
  • Middle East Peacemaking – Learn more about the occupation of Palestine and the efforts of  Israelis and Palestinians to create peace with justice in the Middle East.  Find out what you can do to help their efforts to stop the violence.  On Earth Peace provides educational resources and opportunities for travel to Palestine and Israel to learn directly from those working for peace on both sides.
  • Decade to Overcome ViolenceThe Decade to Overcome Violence: Churches Seeking Reconciliation and Peace 2001 – 2010 (DOV) is an initiative of the World Council of Churches. DOV is a global movement that strives to strengthen existing efforts and networks for overcoming violence, as well as inspire the creation of new ones.  The Church of the Brethren, through its representatives to the World Council of Churches, was instrumental in calling on global Christianity to set this theme for the years 2001-2010.
  • Song & Story Fest – Song & Story Fest is an annual family camp that On Earth Peace co-sponsors, for families of any size and shape.  Featuring musicians and storytellers from across the denomination and beyond, the fest occurs each year just prior to or just after the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference.  The 2008 Shenandoah Song & Story Fest: Streams of Mercy, Never Ceasing! will be held  July 6-12, at Camp Brethren Woods, Keezletown, Virgiia.
  • Special Program Archives – The Seeking Peace program and resources were created as a response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Though this program no longer officially exists, many of the ideas and resources were folded into other On Earth Peace programs.
