Program Coordinator – Ministry of Reconciliation (begins July 2008)
Position Announcement
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating the overall Ministry of Reconciliation program of On Earth Peace, working with other staff, volunteers, church agencies, and resource persons.
- Coordinate planning, publicity, and registration for workshops and a wide variety of other educational activities with congregations, districts, camps, etc.
- Coordinate reconciliation services such as conflict intervention, mediation, and meeting facilitation, drawing upon a network of reconcilers
- Assist with interpretation of conflict transformation program through conferences, printed materials and other means; respond to requests for information and resources
- Strengthen and expand Ministry of Reconciliation practitioner network
Qualifications
- Personal commitment to Christian peacemaking and leadership development
- Ability to provide spiritual leadership through reconciliation ministry
- Experience with faith-based educational or service program planning
- Basic understanding of conflict, reconciliation, and scriptural basis of peacemaking
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational ability, including program budget management
- Computer skills and familiarity with internet, word processing, e-mail and other tools
- Willingness to travel
- Familiarity with Church of the Brethren beliefs, practices and organization
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

- Position is available July 21, 2008. Location is flexible.
- This is a full-time position, but open to negotiation for less than full-time.
- Salary range is $32K to $40K, depending upon experience and demonstrated ability, with full benefits.

Position Description
Overview
The Program Coordinator for Ministry of Reconciliation is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating the overall conflict transformation program of On Earth Peace, working with staff, volunteers, church agencies, and resource persons.
Reportability/Accountability
The Program Coordinator for Ministry of Reconciliation is accountable to the mission and plan of On Earth Peace, and reportable to the executive director. Regular reports will be made to other staff and a semi-annual report will be made to the Board of Directors. Hiring, dismissal, and an annual evaluation will be done by the executive director.
Responsibilities/Duties
Note: On Earth Peace is re-envisioning the way that programs will be carried out, moving toward a more unified program built around a holistic vision of Christian peacemaking. Consequently, staff roles and responsibilities will likely shift somewhat in order to implement this unified program. The following describes the position as it exists now.
- Conceptualize, implement, and evaluate the overall conflict transformation program of the organization, known as the Ministry of Reconciliation (MoR). This will be done in consultation with the executive director and congregational, district and denominational partners.
- Coordinate provision of reconciliation and facilitation services through the Ministry of Reconciliation.
- Coordinate leadership development for MoR practitioners and expansion of the practitioner network.
- Plan, develop and implement educational workshops and other programs consistent with the mission statement and strategic plan, and within budgetary parameters.
- Assist in creation of interpretive materials needed for conflict transformation programs.
- Help develop and oversee the conflict transformation budget.
- Supervise volunteers and assistants assigned to the conflict transformation program.
- Participate in Annual Conference and other denominational events as appropriate: work with other staff in creating display and reports; propose, plan, and coordinate insight sessions and other program activities related to conflict transformation; and help carry out program logistics.
- As appropriate, represent On Earth Peace at district and denominational events and in meeting with key persons and groups.
- As appropriate, work with other Church of the Brethren and ecumenical agencies in projects and programs related to conflict transformation.
- Carry out other program-related activities as requested by executive directors.
Organizational expectations: attend Board meetings; participate in staff meetings and staff retreats; and support other members of the staff team.
