NOAC 2019

Service Opportunities

You will sign up for any project when you register.

Reading To Elementary Students
Tuesday, Sept 3

Thanks to the success and popularity of this event in 2017, NOAC participants will be invited to visit Junaluska Elementary School to read great children’s stories. A picnic lunch and the books to read will be provided. Over lunch, you’ll get a chance to practice reading your book. A bus will transport you the short distance to and from the school.

Cost: $15 (includes transportation and lunch)

Book Drive

All churches and participants are invited to donate new or gently (please) used children’s books for the elementary school, grades K-5. There will be a collection space in the exhibit hall. These books will help boost individual classroom libraries so children in this poor community have ready access to plenty of informative, inspiring, exciting and fun literature. There will also be a variety of children’s books in the Brethren Press bookstore if you forget or don’t want to lug extra baggage. Support for a lifetime of reading is a perfect “footprint” for NOAC participants to leave with the youngest members of the Lake Junaluska community!

Assembling Hygiene Kits
Wednesday, Sept. 4

We will provide the materials for NOAC participants to assemble 1,000 kits.

Cost: $10 (to cover the cost of materials)

Worship Service Usher

There will be five worship services, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and Friday morning. If you would like to volunteer to usher for one or all services, please check the box on the registration page.

NOAC Choir

The choir will rehearse Monday from 4:30-6 p.m., and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 4:45 - 6 p.m. The choir will participate in five worship services; and members are urged to bring your own or a borrowed copy of Hymnal: A Worship Book, if possible. Choir Director, Michelle Grimm, will contact you prior to NOAC to let you know the fee for choir music packets. Fees will be collected at the first rehearsal when music is handed out. If you wish to sing in the choir, please check the box on the registration page and list your voice part.
