Brethren Academy updates course listing for 2020 into 2021 (January 16, 2020)

The Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership has updated its course listing for 2020 into 2021. LaDonna Sanders Nkosi begins as director of Intercultural Ministries (January 15, 2020)

LaDonna Sanders Nkosi has been hired by the Church of the Brethren as director of Intercultural Ministries, a staff position in Discipleship Ministries. Her first day on the job is Jan. 16. She will work remotely and from the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin, Ill. Read more »


Moderator’s forum is April 18 at Elizabethtown College’s Young Center (January 14, 2020)

Annual Conference moderator Paul Mundey has announced that he will host a Moderator’s Forum this spring at the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown (Pa.) College. The date is April 18, from 1-9 p.m. The focus is “Historical Themes Impacting Today’s Church.” Read more »

Disaster Recovery Support Initiative to be taken up by Church World Service  (December 19, 2019)

A pilot program to help communities launch long-term recovery following disasters is growing ecumenically. Over the past two years the disaster ministries of the Church of the Brethren, the United Church of Christ (UCC), and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have joined forces to pioneer the Disaster Recovery Support Initiative (DRSI) in nine states and US territories. Now DRSI is folding into the disaster programs of Church World Service (CWS), a faith-based organization with 37 member communions including the Church of the Brethren. CWS responds to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster around the globe. Read more »

Jay Wittmeyer resigns as executive director of Global Mission and Service (December 19, 2019)

Jay Wittmeyer has resigned as executive director of Global Mission and Service, effective Jan. 13, 2020. He is taking a position as executive director of Lombard (Ill.) Mennonite Peace Center, where he was assistant director before working for the Church of the Brethren. Read more »
