Curriculum guide for ‘Seagoing Cowboy’
A new Common Core-based curriculum guide is now available for teachers interested in using the new illustrated hard-back children’s book, “The Seagoing Cowboy,” as an educational resource. The book is about the experience of a “seagoing cowboy” who helped take livestock to a devastated Europe after World War II with Heifer Project, now Heifer International. The book is written by Peggy Reiff Miller and illustrated by Claire Ewart. The curriculum guide is developed by Leigh Courtney, Ph.D., and incorporates Common Core State Standards for literacy and math. It includes discussion questions, activities, sequencing story events, “A Day in the Life of a Seagoing Cowboy” activity sheet, and a “Helping Here at Home” chart.
