Robert Bowman preached on Hebrews 11 for the opening worship service of NOAC 2011, the evening of Monday, Sept. 5.

“Even if it is raining, we’re going to have a great time at NOAC this week . . . . Keep your umbrellas handy!” — Kim Ebersole, director of Family Life and Older Adult Ministry, as she welcomed the congregation to the opening worship service Monday evening.

“We can go swimming!” — Overheard outside Stuart Auditorium after evening worship, when the congregation emerged to discover the deluge of rain pouring down outside.

Main Events of the Day

Registration, the Brethren Press bookstore, and the exhibit hall opened this afternoon at 1 p.m. NOAC officially began with gathering singing at 7 p.m. in Stuart Auditorium, followed by evening worship at 7:15. Robert Bowman preached for worship on the theme, “Living Between the Temples” from Hebrews 11. The first ice cream social of the week rounded out the evening, in Jones Dining Hall sponsored by the Fellowship of Brethren Homes.
