Stepping over to Sudan

One of the projects listed there was RECONCILE, an organization that works to rebuild war-torn communities in South Sudan. RECONCILE’s emphasis on civic education and social transformation seemed to make it a perfect match.... So after completing her BVS orientation, Jillian Foerster packed her bags for a two-year term with RECONCILE.

Recently, I made two trips to Eastern Equatoria State with Klero Onuha (the Director of AIC-CORED), to assess various programs in which AIC-CORED is involved. On the first occasion, Klero and I were able to evaluate the progress of the construction of the AIC Primary School at the AIC Church compound in Torit.

We have entered the final month (or so) of the rainy season and apparently the weather systems moving through this region are fully cognizant that their time is near. The expansion of Juba Town seems to coincide with the amount of rainfall received on an almost daily basis.

Bohrer ends service as director of Sudan mission initiative

The position of director of the Church of the Brethren?s Sudan mission initiative is being eliminated, as part of a re-evaluation of the needs of Global Mission Partnerships. Bradley Bohrer leaves the position on July 31, 2009, after which he will receive a three-month severance package.

The Sudan mission program continues to seek deeper relationship with our partner organization, Reconcile, in its work to bring healing and wholeness to the Sudanese after 21 years of civil war. As the relationship has grown, so has the communication about the struggles of our Sudanese brothers and sisters.
