| Network Expands The Creation Stewardship Advocate network has expanded to eight districts. The Advocates serve as a district resource person for individuals and congregations, including providing a presence at district conferences. Each district has been invited to appoint CSA's, and Marisa Yoder continues to make contacts with those who have yet to make their appointments. Contact the Brethren Witness office for more information.
Rain Forest Safari II The experience will be hosted by the Jaguar Creek center in Belize, Central America. Jaguar Creek is a program of Target Earth, a Christian environmental organization whose goals are to serve the earth and serve the poor. Goals for the visit in Belize will be to learn about the rain forest ecosystem, including threats to it, and to experience the tropical environment through field trips into the jungle and other hands-on activities. Dates for the safari will be firmed up in the coming months. Cost will be approximately $850, including round trip airfare. Contact the Brethren Witness office for registration information.
BVS and Belize Three BVS projects are now available in Belize at the Jaguar Creek Center. Take your pick from a youth environmental education program, a community development effort and an innovative environmental mapping project. Contact the BVS office or the Brethren Witness office for more information.
Project Rebuild II The work team will assist in rebuilding homes for poor Hondurans, in partnership with the Christian Commission for Development, the Church of the Brethren colleague agency in Honduras. The group will also learn about the overall social and economic situation in Honduras, where 82 percent of the population lives on the edge of survival. A visit is scheduled for the community of El Estribo, where last August's groups worked, to observe the progress of a small livestock project funded by the Global Food Crisis Fund. A trip to the Copan ruins is also planned. Qualifications for participation are: good physical health, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to grow in ones faith and live in very basic conditions. Dates for the work camp is June 17-27. Approximate cost is $800. The trip is jointly sponsored by the Global Mission Partnerships and Brethren Witness offices.
