The Brethren Witness/Washington Office offers the opportunity for children, youth or other groups to learn about the world around them while reaching out to make the world a better place. And the projects listed below help connect participants to the ministries of the Church of the Brethren in many corners of God's world.

If a Tree Falls...	Kids are naturally interested in the rainforest, and this project helps them do their part to save this vital part of God's creation. Brethren work in partnership with Christian groups in Central America to protect endangered forests. These efforts are funded entirely by gifts to the If a Tree Falls... program. Plant 10 forest trees for $1, 10 fruit trees for every $10, or purchases a quarter acre of rainforest for $30. Bulletin inserts, a color display, giving chart and activity guide are available.
Fire and Forest	Fire had captivated the human imagination for millennia—in Central America, fire wrongly used destroys forests as well as human health. This program of the Global Food Crisis Fund assists Guatemalan families in building wood-conserving stoves. This both saves forests and protects the lungs of women and children, who otherwise must cook over open indoor fires. $25 provides our half of the cost of a stove. Support a School	Children in war-torn Sudan often don't get to go to school at all. Those that do don't have adequate classroom supplies or even soap for bathing and doing laundry. And sometimes their schools are bombed by the government. The Support a School project of the Global Food Crisis Fund provides a way for children here to help children in Sudan, while learning about their situation. $24 purchases two cases of soap; $120 pays a child's tuition for a year.
