CPT has an opening for a full-time person to support and expand our outreach activities in the USA and other regions outside of Canada.

Responsibilities and necessary qualities, experiences and skills are listed in the job description below. The CPT support team strongly prefers this position to be based in the CPT Chicago office. Compensation is a subsistence stipend based on need.

While CPT experience is preferred, persons with the required experience and skills who have not been members of CPT may apply. See www.cpt.org for background about CPT. If chosen as the most promising applicant, such an individual will be invited to participate in a CPT delegation and month-long training and discernment process prior to finalizing appointment to this position.

CPT is engaged in the process of deepening organization-wide commitment and action to undo racism and is working towards becoming a more diverse community. As with every Support Team position, factors other than job-specific skills and experience may b taken into account to meet these goals. Job Description: CPT Outreach Coordinator

1. CPT USA Outreach Coordination (60% time)

• Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for CPT outreach in the USA.
  • This includes coordinating the recruitment of new CPTers, thereby nurturing the base of CPT supporters and expanding contributions of both funds and active involvement in CPT peacemaking efforts. This work is to be done in concert with the CPT Undoing Racism Coordinator who carries responsibility for coordinating outreach in racialized communities.
    
    
• Recruit New CPTers:
  • Encourage and support current CPT Corps members in their recruiting work.
  • Follow up with past delegates and others identified as promising potential CPTers.
  • Develop tools for recruiting (print and web based).
    
    
• Get the word out about CPT:
  • Support CPT speaking (e.g. respond to requests for speakers, maintain and develop the speakers' bureau, track and follow up on CPT speaking, coordinate CPT's presence at key conferences, events and places)
  • Support expanded use of CPT materials in publications, blogs, website links
    
    
• Embrace CPT's Donor base:
  
  • Initiate focused outreach to donors (e.g. yearly letter to congregations and meetings, relationship building with major donors)
  • Coordinate application for and reporting on grants together with reservist volunteer
    
    
• Support Regional Groups
  
  • Connect regularly with each regional group to provide information and encouragement for their violence reduction work and help link these groups to the wider CPT organization
    
  • Respond to expressions of interest regarding possible formation of a regional group. Nurture the growth of groups expressing this interest by helping accomplish the necessary organization for regional trainings where applicable and coordination of those trainings with the ones organized by members of CPT training team
    
    
• Work with the USA Administrator and Program Coordinator to develop/differentiate structure for CPT USA
  
  

2. CPT Outreach Coordination for areas outside the USA and Canada (10 % time)

• All of the above for places beyond USA and Canada
  
  

3. Serve as Support Team member: Participate in office meetings and responsibilities, Support Team meetings, work with Steering Committee and CPT trainings as needed, fill in for team mates who are on vacation, on project or leave, etc. (10% time)

4. Serve as CPTer: Participate annually as a member of a project team (1 month a year). Stay up to date on CPT as a whole. Participate in Fulltimer's retreat. (10 % time)

5. Other (up to 10% time): Depending on the gifts and interest of the person and CPT's needs, this position will carry additional responsibilities in one of the following areas:

• Web site or
  
• Publications or
  
• CPT USA property management or
  
• Coordination of continuing education for CPTers or
  
• Support for small, short, or developing CPT project work
  
  

The Outreach Coordinator is a full-time position with the general expectation of 40 hours per week. The normal working hours of CPT are flexible but demanding. Weekend work and evening work will be frequent. Working hours will expand considerably during times of crisis or on-site visits. The Coordinator should negotiate time off after such intense events are completed. Compensation is a subsistence stipend based on need. The appointment will be for a period of three years.

Needed Qualities, Experience and Skills:
(as demonstrated either in CPT work and/or through other references)

Christian

• deep grounding in Christian faith, rooted in a worshiping community
  
• commitment to the biblical and historic Christian understanding of peacemaking familiarity with CPT's sponsoring denominations and organizations, or a willingness to grow in this area

Peacemaker

• experience and willingness to participate in nonviolent direct action and work in settings of lethal inter-group conflict
  
• firm commitment to the practice of peacemaking
  
• experience in, and commitment to, dismantling racism and other oppressions

Team Member

• demonstrated interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; ability to listen and share with sensitivity, tact, humor and humility
  
• demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships, ability to appropriately navigate needs for both openness and confidentiality
  
• ability to take initiative and engage in good teamwork
  
• awareness of self-care needs and ability to set limits in a demanding work environment

Other

• English fluency essential. Fluency in Spanish desirable. Ability in other languages used by CPT's partners a plus.
  
• proven administrative and leadership skills, including the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands, facilitate group processes, attend to both detail and broad reality in both vision and relationships
  
• communication skills including writing, public speaking, and maintaining relationships with people in many locations, using ever-changing communications technology

Accountability

Accountable to the Co-Director (Operations) through regular check-ins and a review every eighteen months.
