Legislative Associate: Church of the Brethren Witness/ Washington Office

The Church of the Brethren Witness/Washington Office needs Legislative Associates for one or two year Brethren Volunteer Service assignments. Duties include active participation with ecumenical and public advocacy agencies to develop expertise on three to four issues of focus; assist in editing and writing the Witness to Washington (the office's monthly publication); assist with grassroots organizing; participate in weekly Witness/Washington Office organizational meetings; general office duties; hosting visitors.

Re: Familiarity with the programs and values of the Church of the Brethren, good communication skills, self starter, college degree, a high motivation and faith commitment to peace and justice issues, international experience helpful, acceptance into Brethren Volunteer Service.

Program Associate: Church of the Brethren Witness/ Washington Office

The Program Associate duties are similar to that of the Legislative Associate. The Program Associate position focuses more on editing and promoting resource material in relation to various issues and integrating Church of the Brethren policy statements into written and oral communications with membership, congregations, and districts. The position also includes assisting in the overall administration of the office (general office duties); assisting in editing and writing the Witness to Washington newsletter; hosting visitors; as well as some issue work.
