Among a veritable cornucopia of afternoon options at NOAC are 10 handcrafts classes, covering possibilities from assembling teddy bears or making kites to sculpting a balloon magnolia or a plastic spoon rose.
NOAC participants were busy at those options again on Wednesday, running sewing machines, wielding scissors, and wadding up stuffing. Others learned about digital photography or how to whittle or make a covered photo album.
An additional outlet for those wanting to work with their hands is the NOAC service project--putting together health kits and school kits to send to disaster areas and other places of need. Service project co-coordinator Gerry Graybill said 150 kits had been assembled through Wednesday afternoon, not counting 210 kits that a congregation brought along to NOAC. Nearly 75 people had come to help in the first two days. "That's an excellent response!" Graybill said.
