LAKE JUNALUSKA OR BUST!

Some came by plane, some drove, some came with groups on buses. NOAC coordinators didn't care what mode of transportation was used, as long as everyone made it safely.

Romy Mueller, a member of the NOAC Planning Committee and one of the volunteer coordinators who help the Association of Brethren Caregivers staff, reported Monday night that registration had gone "very well," and that nearly everyone who had registered had arrived.

Earlier, ABC staff member Scott Douglas said that 1,118 people--a record high--had registered for the event, representing 247 congregations in 21 of the denomination's 23 districts. One participant even came in all the way from Germany.

Volunteers stationed themselves at strategic points around the assembly grounds--many of them standing or sitting in the hot sun for hours--to greet people as they arrived and to provide luggage assistance as needed at the lodging locations. A popular feature this year was having greeters meet each bus group that arrived with all the folders and room keys for everyone on board, then rode with them to the various locations where those on board were staying.

Once they were registered and settled in, participants could browse the exhibit hall and Brethren Press bookstore, stroll the grounds, get dinner, visit, and relax until the evening celebration began.
