HANDCRAFTS

Joyce Parker of West Salem, Ohio, helps Virginia Crim of Greenville, Ohio, finish her clay pot creation.

On each of the three full days of the conference, NOAC participants had the opportunity to sign up for one of eight handcrafts sessions. Options included acrylic painting, watercolor painting, whittling, kite-making, creating a teddy bear, quilting by hand-piecing, making a covered photo album, or working with clay. Volunteers with the particular expertise led each activity.

Reba Bame of Forest, Ohio, works piece by piece at creating her own teddy bear on Thursday, with a model of the finished product in front of her.

Harold Bowser of Bedford, Pa., tries his hand at whittling on a porch by the lake. Beginners worked at carving a ball out of a small block, while those more experienced worked on a nativity set.
