Introducing Jesus to a Secular Society
Bibliography

More Ready than You Realize (evangelism as dance in the postmodern matrix) by Brian McLaren, Zondervan, 2002 (Through an e-mail correspondence, Brian McLaren helps the reader to understand the longings of postmodern people and how to best communicate with them.)

How to Change Your Church Without Killing It, by Alan Nelson and Gene Appel, W Publishing Group, 2000 (Facilitating change within a church is always difficult. This book will help you understand the needs, motivations, give you a process and guide you through it.)

Reclaiming the Great Commission by Bishop Claude Payne, Jossey Bass, 2000 (Bishop Claude Payne challenged a dioceses and congregations to be transformed into communities of "Miraculous Expectation". This book outlines his process that turned around declining churches into growing ones.)

The Church of Irresistible Influence by Robert Lewis, Zondervan Press, 2001 (In an engaging book, Robert Lewis tells how congregations can become bridges of "irresistible influence" helping people connect with your church and heaven.)

The Gallup Guide, Reality Check for 21st Century Churches by George Gallup, Jr., Group Publishing, 2003 (This book helps congregations research demographic info around their meeting places.)

Adventures in Missing the Point (How the Culture Controlled Church Neutered the Gospel) by Brian McLaren and Tony Campolo, Zondervan Press, 2003 (The title says it all!)

The Emerging Church, by Dan Kimball, Zondervan Press, 2003 (What are postmodern people looking for spiritually? Kimball helps the reader to understand their longings and writes how churches can share "vintage" Christianity in an effective way to reach them. I've been to Dan's seminar twice on the contents of this book and got a lot out of both experiences!)

A is for Abductive, The Language of the Emerging Church by Leonard Sweet, Brian McLaren, and Jerry Haselmayer, Zondervan Press, 2003 (In going through the alphabet, the authors help you understand different postmodern terms and thinking.)

Church for the Unchurched by George G. Hunter III, Abingdon Press, 1996 (In an older, but relevant book. Hunter shares that there are still vital ways that a congregation can live-out the Gospel in a way that's appealing to those outside the church.)

Surprising Insights from the Unchurched and Proven Ways to Reach Them, by Thorn S. Rainer, Zondervan Press, 2001 (George Barna interviews those outside the church, asking what would/might get them in. Thorn Rainer asked those who recently came to Christ and the church and asked them what it was that helped them cross the gap. He provides some surprising and challenging insights!)

Evangelism Outside the Box, by Rick Richardson, Inter-Varsity Press, 2000 (When many people think that all truth is relative, how can we share the Gospel truth in compelling ways? Richardson provides some fresh perspectives on this question.)
