Congregational Life Ministries - New Church Development Advisory Committee

Church Planting Conference Scheduled for May 2008

This committee was originally appointed by the General Board's Congregational Life Ministries office in April 2001, following unanimous approval for a continuing new church development committee at the spring 2001 meetings of the General Board. Many of the committee members continued from an earlier study committee.

The committee is:

Lynda DeVore, church planting apostle for the Great Harvest Church Planting movement of the Illinois/Wisconsin District, Church of the Brethren
Don Mitchell, Church Development Director, Atlantic Northeast District, Church of the Brethren
David Shumate, District Executive, Virlina District, Church of the Brethren
Steve Gregory, Congregational Life Ministries, Church of the Brethren General Board
Jonathan Shively, Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership (ex officio, conference organizer)

The committee works at training and assessment for church planters, coaching models, establishing guidelines for grants, development of a church planters' manual, and other tasks. Its work is funded by the Emerging Global Mission Fund.
