Job Descriptions

Alderson Hospitality House (AHH) seeks a Volunteer to share in the life and work of our ministry. We provide lodging, meals, transportation, and support to those visiting loved ones at a nearby federal women’s prison camp. Duties include providing transportation between AHH and the prison, preparing meals, cleaning the house, making beds, gardening, and simple house maintenance. Volunteers are also called upon to offer guests emotional and spiritual support when needed. Opportunities exist to assist with bulk mailings, website maintenance, building improvement projects, and local community involvement and outreach. Alderson is a rural town of about 1,000 people.

Requirements include maturity and willingness to provide hospitality and support at all hours to a diverse group of guests while sharing a common living space with them. Volunteers should be prepared for work that is moderately physically demanding with lots of stairs. It is preferred that volunteers possess basic computer skills; a commitment to justice, peace, and simplicity; a driver’s license; patience; and a healthy sense of humor.
