BVS/Global Missions in Brazil seeks one or two Volunteers to help with community outreach programs of the congregations in either the Campinas (Sao Paulo) area, or the city of Rio Verde, Goias state. These programs currently focus on children’s programs of educational support, such as tutoring and education enrichment activities, and program of Christian education linked directly to the congregational ministry. These outreaches respond to needs of the communities as well as the church membership. Active participation in the congregation would be expected. Both assignments would be supervised on day-to-day basis by local pastors and/or the National Directors, Marcos and Suely Inhauser, depending on location. This is an emerging ministry in which the candidates will help shape the position direction in consultation with church leaders and community voices. A decision has not yet been made whether a second worker might be assigned to a separate location after six months or so. Requirements: A degree in a related field and experience working with children would be helpful, ability to adjust to another culture and willingness to learn Portuguese language are essential. A basic knowledge of the Church of the Brethren beliefs and practices is also required.
