El Centro Arte para la Paz is a locally-supported organization that works to develop and promote a culture of peace through creativity, imagination, cultural exchange, and the arts. It integrates creative energies, cultural identity, and hopeful dreams into the community by offering alternative education, cultural events and exhibitions, and studios of new technologies. The programs contribute to the culture of peace by building cultural identity and unity within the community, teaching skills to support self-sufficiency and critical thinking, promoting environmental awareness, teaching gender equality, exploring nurturing spiritualities, and building bridges between cultures.
El Centro seeks creative Volunteers to get involved with existing activities or to create a new activity based on the volunteer's interests, life experience, or skill set. Some past activities have included drawing and painting, digital photography, peace gardens, cooperative games, folk dancing, and alternatives programs to violence.
Volunteers should be self-motivated and adaptable and should enjoy working with children and youth. Other requirements include conversational Spanish proficiency and good interpersonal skills.
