History:           During the years 1976-1982 the office which created these records had two names and occupied three different places in the General Board structure.  From 1976 to 1978 it was the Personnel Office and the coordinator was Hazel M. Peters.  The office was part of the General Staff, and the coordinator probably reported to the General Secretary.  In 1979 the name of the office was changed to Office of Personnel Administration, and J. Bentley Peters became the coordinator.  Also at that time the office became a unit in the General Services Commission (GSC).  In 1981 the office moved from GSC to become part of the General Secretary’s Office.  In addition to the coordinators the following people also worked in the office during the period covered by these records: Barbara Greenwald, Lois Baumgardner, Bob Faus, and Merv Keeney.

 

Description of the Records:    This entire set of records consists of files related to General Board

position searches.  For the most part, the files contain lists of position candidates, position descriptions, memos and letters following the progress of searches, letters of applications, resumés, interview schedules and summaries, and announcements of staff hired.  The original order is mostly chronological, but not entirely.
