History: Originally called the Office of Personnel Administration and administered by various people (Hazel Peters, Bentley Peters, Carol Sherbondy White, and possibly some others), the Office of Human Resources began as a separate commission, under the oversight of James Garber as Executive, in late 1983. Melanie May succeeded Garber in 1987. When May left in 1990, the commission was absorbed into the General Services Commission, with Dale E. Minnich as executive. This position was eliminated in the 1997 restructuring, and Elsie Holderread became Coordinator of Human Resources, under the direction of the General Secretary's Office.
Description of the Records: The entire set of records consists of files connected to the advertising, searching, and filling of various General Board positions. They contain position descriptions, letters of application, interview schedules and summaries, and announcements of staff hired. They are arranged chronologically.
Provenance: Accession #1995.046, from Barbara Greenwald, administrative assistant to Garber, May, and Minnich. The majority of the records were collected by Garber.

Separations: Duplicates of letters and position descriptions were discarded.
