History:  Annual Conference created the Annual Conference Anniversary Committee (ACAC) in 2000 and elected the following people to the committee:  Jeff Bach, Don Durnbaugh, Rhonda Pittman Gingrich, Leslie Lake, Lorele Yager, and Richard Kyerematen.  Kyerematern was unable to serve and was replaced by Dean Garrett before the first meeting of the committee in December 2000.  Don Durnbaugh served on the committee until his sudden death on August 25, 2005.  By virtue of their position as Executive Director of Annual Conference, Duane Steiner (2000-2002) and Lerry Fogle (2002-2008) served as ex-officio members of the committee.  Between 2007 and 2008, Jim Beckwith and Kristi Kellerman also served as ex-officio members. The ACAC committee was responsible for planning and implementing a celebration of the anniversary. Also they held responsibility to help congregations and districts in carrying out their separate celebrations. The theme “Surrendered to God, Transformed in Christ, Empowered by the Spirit” was developed by the committee, and with the help of denominational agencies, they promoted the anniversary through a series of resources, publications, artwork, music, drama, curriculum and study tours.  Each year they presented a report to Annual Conference.  For more information consult folder 2 (ACAC Beginnings) and the Annual Conference minutes.

 

Description of the Records:  Includes committee minutes, correspondence, and promotion materials. Also includes the resource materials for individuals and congregations.
