A wonderful site to explore, but particularly apropos to this packet are the links to Shaping Communities, Hospitality and Forgiveness. Note also the variety of resources on this site: sermons, music suggestions, things other Christians do to put feet on their faith. Also check out the grant program, and consider how to plug into it. Upcoming Grants Application deadlines for 2004: June 30, October 15.
In many communities, local congregations, mosques, and temples cooperate with each other to improve the health of people in their communities. Faith groups are also working side by side with health organizations in creative partnerships. These initiatives are often unknown even in the communities where they are located, much less beyond those boundaries. It is conviction of the Institute that almost everything worth doing is being done somewhere, and part of its mission is to identify successful practices as models that might be replicated elsewhere or that might trigger ideas for similar ventures. This site is dedicated to highlighting these best practices and to offer contact information for individuals who know how to translate vision into reality.
A faith or spiritual community is any group of people who share spiritual beliefs. Like others, members of faith and spiritual communities sometimes experience sexual violence. They may be victims, perpetrators, or have friends or families who have been affected. At the same time, members of these communities may not see sexual violence as a problem, and may not want to discuss it. Still, faith and spiritual communities also have unique opportunities to prevent sexual violence and promote growth and healing.
Site includes examples of how congregations are raising awareness of family violence in communities of faith, how they are writing policies to protect members (especially children) from sexual abuse. You can

There are several ways to go about locating and obtaining books and other print materials. Public and academic libraries employ trained information professionals who can assist with using library catalogs and other databases to identify materials on a given subject. They can also provide Interlibrary Loan services for obtaining copies of books and articles that are not owned in local libraries. On-line booksellers have searchable catalogs which are often useful for identifying and purchasing books on various topics. Some parish nursing Web sites, such as the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (www.ipnrc.parishnurses.org), also provide catalogs of books and other materials for purchase.
